These hybrid serrano chile peppers are bred for compactness and high productivity. The small, bushy plants yield large, straight, and firm-bodied bright green fruits abundantly. Serrano chiles are known to be about twice as hot as Jalapenos. Unlike some other chiles, their flavour is optimal when they are still green, although they will ripen to a scarlet red colour. This is the pepper used on green chile burgers and used in queso when pickled.
